Printing - Cell Lead (2nd Shift)

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the Printing Shift Supervisor, the Cell Leader is responsible for coordinating the activities of resources of the assigned cell and making sure the team is positioned to meet the quality, delivery and productivity targets. The Cell Leader will need to know the daily expectations of the cell, know the current status throughout the shift, make the necessary adjustments, and provide the technical support required to hit the targets

 

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

 

  • Coordination of Activities: overlap with the previous or next shift to understand unusual circumstances, scheduling issues and ongoing problems
  • Assist Group Leader with assignment of personnel at the start of the shift, identify any labor shortages or skill issues, ensure machines run through shift change
  • Assist set-up operators in CM&R or quality inspection/machine adjustment as required
  • Re-assign personnel as required, set up operators for CM&R, press operators to cover breaks and lunches on high priority presses, technician to priorities
  • Conduct quick walk around the area checking each press for issues
  • Respond to downtime issues by dealing directly/calling technicians as required, escalate problems that exceed 30 minutes
  • Schedule jobs in the correct sequence on the Daily Machine Scheduling & Attainment board
  • Check and authorize job starts and fill out the Line Inspection Sheet
  • Update cell production report with downtime information
  • Complete the update of the scheduling board at the end of the shift, totaling all the appropriate columns
  • Complete and Submit Cell Leader report
  • Never compromises safety, treats fellow Team Members with honesty, respect and dignity
  • Meets standards of conduct
  • Perform hourly audits of presses checking for:
  • Adherence to Quality procedures, jobs running at job card speed, proper use of Kanban card, ahead/behind status, adherence to standard work, adherence to HSE/HACCP/ SQF/5S
  • Identify training opportunities to Group Leader
  • Actively participate in problem solving
  • Provide technical assistance to Operators as required
  • Responsible for training Team Members on cGMP’s Food Safety and Quality procedure
  • Assists with new job approval tasks and associated documentation
  • This position is back up for Group Leaders
  • Back up for this position is the designated Set-Up Specialists or Press Operators

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 

Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum Experience/Field: 5 years’ experience as press operator

Communication Skills: Fluent in English with good written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills

Skills: Press Operating Skills, Tear down, wash, set-up of printing presses, able to run all lid and base presses. Shows leadership qualities, able to coordinate multiple activities at the same time. Able to diagnose printing problems and initiate appropriate corrective action. Must be able to work with frequent interruptions
