Facilities Maintenance Mechanic & Printing PM support

Department: Facilities

 

Reporting to: Facilities Supervisor

Dotted line reporting to: Printing Maintenance Supervisor

 

 

Summary of Job Functions:

  1. To maintain Plant Maintenance equipment (chillers, compressors, pumps, etc.) and assure their uninterrupted operation during his/her shift
  2. To maintain production ancillary equipment to achieve uninterrupted Molding, and Printing production as scheduled during his/her shift
  3. To perform maintenance & repairs related to building, offices, washrooms
  4. To perform maintenance & repairs of Warehouse shrink wrappers
  5. Support Printing Maintenance Team with preventive maintenance tasks as requested by Printing Maintenance Supervisor

 

Responsibilities and Duties: The during his/her shift Facilities Maintenance Mechanic’s duties / responsibilities are as follows

 

  1. Ensures all safety, security and fire regulations and policies are followed for Toronto’s Building and Equipment.
  2. Performs Preventative Maintenance procedures for Facilities Equipment & Building, as assigned by Facilities Supervisor or Printing Equipment as assigned by Printing Maintenance Supervisor
  3. Makes recommendations for major repairs and purchases to both Facilities & Printing Maintenance Supervisors.
  4. Monitors and controls Building Automation System (I-Vue) to assure best operation of chillers, cooling towers, heat exchangers to satisfy Production Operation needs of chilled and tower cooling water
  5. Monitors and controls Compressed Air System (compressors, dryers and filters) to assure compliance with compressed air pressure required by Production Operation
  6. Repairs Facilities equipment such as: water pumps, cooling towers, water tanks, motors, supply and exhaust fans and vacuum pumps for molding and printing.
  7. Performs maintenance and repairs to material handling systems: rail car unloading system, vacuum pumps and motors, surge bins loaders, piping, and silo accessories (Smart Bob yo-yo system)
  8. Perform preventative maintenance on the Printing machines as assigned by Printing Maintenance Supervisor.
  9. Maintains and repairs to Keeprite & Carrier Air Handling Units, gas space heaters, sprinkler systems, water, gas, and all associated equipment.
  10. Maintains good housekeeping in Mechanical room and Facilities storage areas.
  11. Supports cleaners to clean external areas such as entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots using manual brooms, rakes, shovels etc.
  12. Transports equipment, furniture and supplies manually and/or using aides such as dollies and carts.
  13. Operates Sky-Jack or Zoom Boom as required
  14. Performs other related duties as required.
  15. Performs all duties with care and safely, due diligence and comply with industrial safety rules and company’s safety rules and policies

 

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Education Requirements

  • Certified Industrial Mechanic Millwright or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge of high-speed packaging equipment
  • Good basic understanding of the principles of pneumatics
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Fluent in English with good verbal and written communications skills.

 

Work Experience

  • Five years of registered trade level experience in building and utilities maintenance
  • Min 2 years’ experience in the Plastic Industry
  • Familiarity with building automation systems

 

Training

  • On-the-job training is provided by the company using the buddy system until the individual is completely familiar with workplace environment and equipment
  • Health and Safety, WHMIS, SQF policies and procedures are provided by Polytainers
