Molding Maintenance Coop Student - 4 / 8 / 12 months

 

Position Profile:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Molding Maintenance Coop Intern is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Mechanics and Maintenance Manager with troubleshooting and repairing molding machines and troubleshooting of hydraulics, pneumatics. The primary job function is to assist in responding to machines that require repair (breakdowns) or require improved performance. This person will also assist the Team in the performance of Preventative Maintenance or work on projects, when time permits, as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Assist and learn from other Team members in the following areas:
    • Preventative Maintenance of Molding Machines / Thermoformers/ IML by taking machine apart to clean and/or check parts.
    • Re-place faulty parts as needed and re-assemble and check part to ensure smooth and trouble-free production
    • Trouble shoot in the event of equipment breakdown: Clean the area, identify the issue, and resolve the issue to support optimal performance of the line.
    • Hydraulic and Pneumatic Troubleshooting including checking pumps, valves, cylinders, and pistons and following through with the actions required to fix any concerns.
  • Assist in regular housekeeping duties including keeping parts clean and organized and maintaining a clean and orderly shop.
  • Assist the various departments as required, such as assisting production personnel in locating and correcting non-electrical related problems and helping other team members in Maintenance departments during peak loads
  • Always comply with plant safety and HACCP, using appropriate PPE while performing various duties
  • Monitor and Ensure Health & Safety / HACCP & SQF / 5S Compliance, including proactively identify and suggesting ways to eliminate hazards and participating in safety Investigations when required.
  • Must follow food safety and cGMP processes and procedures – training is provided

 

Note:  Work is performed in a production environment with high levels of noise. Heavy lifting and prolonged standing are required. Walking, climbing, reaching, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling and some repetitive arm, wrist and shoulder movements are required in this position.

 

Qualifications

  • Working towards a College diploma in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering  
  • Working towards licensed Millwright is a definite asset
  • Mechanical Aptitude / Strong troubleshooting skills preferred
