Job Summary:  

 

The Supervisor, Operations is responsible for the execution of the Bulk Packaging daily schedule, through organizing the department’s personnel and day-to-day activities The Supervisor, Operations monitors the performance and productivity of the department by leading, motivating, and developing the employees to improve employee morale and engagement, while taking into consideration the company’s commitment to our seven core values in the planning and implementation of all actions related to the area of responsibility.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Direct, supervise, prioritize and coordinate all activities related to the department to maintain quality and maximize productivity while minimizing cost
  • Ensure quality product is being packaged at the standard rate while minimizing down time
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all bulk packaging equipment safely and efficiently
  • Effectively identify and resolve barriers that prevent the team from achieving their targets in a safe environment
  • Complete recruitment, performance management, scheduling, payroll, and accident investigations as required
  • Support the team’s success by ensuring staff are properly trained, motivated, and performing to the required standard, and provide recognition and feedback as required
  • Support management team on achieving annual goals and targets
  • Update Bulk Packaging records and inventory in real time through the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and warehouse management system (WMS).
  • Take the initiative to implement process changes and ensure continuous improvement is embraced by all staff
  • Provide samples to Quality teams for analysis
  • To be competent with regards to the sanitation procedures of the area and using this information to ensure that the sanitation requirements are being adhered to
  • Report all quality issues to department leadership
  • Follow and adhere to all given instructions including work procedures, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Create, review and maintain work procedures as per current manufacturing process
  • Strictly adhere to and observe all safety policies as outlined in the company policies and training sessions
  • Perform safety talks with teams and perform safety inspections for responsible areas.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 Requirements:

 

Technical:

 

  • Completion of Grade 12 is required. Completion of at least two years of post-secondary education in a relevant field is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, operations management or supply chain management, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Experience in business management or engineering is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities for continuous improvements and driving them to completion
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, including formulas, pivot tables and graphs
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) is an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma experience and/or training is an asset
  • Willing and able to wear a respirator (training will be provided)
  • First Aid Level 1 certified, or willing and able to obtain certification (training will be provided)
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
