VOICE DESIGNER

REPORTS TO: AUDIO DIRECTOR

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Design and support the in-game voice pipeline;
  • Develop new techniques and processes to solve the challenges of achieving world-class dialogue performances on screen;
  • Collaborate and problem-solve within multidisciplinary teams to foster the artistic development of voice performances used in production;
  • Actively participate in the development of innovative workflows to simplify the direction, recording - on location and remotely - and integration of dialogue while maintaining a focus on quality;
  • Document and continuously update processes and procedures in a readable and accessible manner;
  • Design and schedule recording sessions as required;
  • Lead direct dialogue recording sessions outside the studio, if required;
  • Promote the accessibility of text dialogues or on-screen speeches.

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • College or university degree in sound recording, dramatic arts, game design and/or equivalent training or experience in film, television or theater;
  • +3 years of industry experience in dialogue recording, performance direction, dialogue integration and dialogue tool pipeline creation;
  • At least one full-scale, multi-platform AAA video game production, preferably on the current or next-generation console cycle;
  • Experience working with actors, agents, engineers and performance directors on live recording sessions;
  • In-depth experience of recording actors and performances, and understanding of microphones and microphone techniques to achieve the desired result
  • In-depth understanding of volume dynamics and compression;
  • Exceptional collaborative, technical and design skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of different sound engines and how dialogue is handled (Wwise, fmod, etc.).

 

EVEN BETTER IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience in editing and exporting VO recordings in Reaper and Nuendo;
  • Ability to listen and suggest improvements to existing systems;
  • Ability to work in a deeply collaborative, quality-oriented team;
  • Ability to balance technical, creative and collaborative skills;
  • Ability to adapt to change and manage deadlines.
