Recovery Support Staff – Four (4) Positions

Northern Ontario Addiction Treatment Centre of Excellence

Full Time - 37.50 hours/week - $27.81/hour

352 Lakeshore Drive – North Bay, ON

The Incumbent will work as part of a team to provide program support to clients in the Residential Treatment Centre Programs. Recovery Support Staff will assist in the coordination and delivery of education and support activities that are aligned to optimal client care. Responsibilities also include monitoring and maintaining the health, safety and security of clients and facility.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-year Diploma in Mental Health and Addictions, Social Service Worker, Indigenous Wellness & Addiction Prevention combined with experience in addiction and mental health services
  • Experience working in the mental health and addiction field and experience working in a residential treatment centre
  • Basic knowledge of computer software
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act
  • Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Excellent judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as per PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act)
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviors 
  • Negative Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current CPR Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Current Non-Violet Crisis Intervention (NCVI) training of willingness to obtain
  • Current Level 1 Food Safety course - or willingness to obtain
  • Current Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) or willingness to obtain
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Must be able to work Sunday – Saturday with alternating shift schedule including evening, night or weekends when necessary
    • 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
    • 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.

 

DUTIES:

  • Maintain safety and security of clients and facility. Conduct Centre round checks/client interactions
  • Maintain accurate records of client charting/logbook
  • Assist with the development of topics to present, prepare and present psychoeducational group presentations/lectures utilizing best practices for increasing coping skills and strategies for positive lifestyle changes
  • Participate in team meetings as required
  • Housekeeping duties and other duties as assigned
