Canadore College is hiring! We are looking to fill the Temporary Full-Time role of Project Lead - Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin STEAM Program for the First Peoples’ Centre. This is an in-person, on-campus opportunity at the College Drive Campus in North Bay, ON. 

 

Reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Research and Development, the Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin Project Lead will oversee the delivery of all aspects of the Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin program and work plan. The Project Lead will also establish community outreach and act as the primary liaison from the Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin Indigenous land-based STEAM program between the College, First Nation Communities and principal partners. The Project Lead will also oversee the development of the STEAM advisory.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-year Diploma and/or Degree in STEAM Related Discipline and/or Indigenous Student Education
  • Indigenous Leadership Training, Wilderness First Aid, First Nations Mental Health First Aid Certification(s) preferred
  • Minimum 1-year combination of education and lived experience in working with Indigenous communities, youth and educational partners
  • Experience offering management support to and delivering STEAM work plans and deliverables, budgets, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience offering management support and delivering STEAM work plans and deliverables, budgets, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, team building and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Indigenous youth and instructors in a camp and workshop setting, on the land and in the classroom
  • Experience, knowledge and active involvement in leading/ implementing culturally relevant and safe STEAM-related programs and land-based learning
  • Proficiency using Zoom and D2L, Bright Space and other learning platforms
  • Understanding and experience in working with Ontario curriculum, Indigenous knowledges, and land-based learning across STEAM disciplines

 

DUTIES:

  • Responsible for project management support, of the Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin Indigenous land-based STEAM program
  • Work collaboratively with the divisions within the College, ensuring accessible, quality educational experiences that meet the unique needs of the learners in the program
  • Establish community out-reach and act as the primary liaison from the Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin Indigenous land-based STEAM program between the College, First Nation Communities and principal partners
  • Maintain project and communication plans, financial accountability documentation and monitor progress with evaluation activities on key milestones and project deliverables
  • Develop and deliver Kikandaaswiwin Mookiisin land camp and experiential learning experiences as needed
  • Independent travel to First Nation communities in addition to frequent trips to other campuses and/or local agencies
